How do I upload PowerPoint slides into Presenter?
To use PowerPoint slides in your presentation, first you need to export the content as a high quality image. Follow the instructions below:
- In PowerPoint, choose: File > Export
- The default PPT export format is PDF – don’t use that – instead, click the ‘Change File Type’ button
- Now select ‘JPEG’ as your format. Then choose ‘Save As’
- PowerPoint will ask you where you want to save the file – make your choice
- It will then ask you if you want to export all slides (if you have created more than one), or just the one you have selected – make your choice
PowerPoint will export your slide as a JPEG image (or series of JPEG images) and save it in the place you told it to.
Once you have your presentation in a JPEG format – you have two options:
- Upload the entire presentation into Presenter using the ‘Upload Presentation from Images’ feature here: ‘Presentations > Upload Presentation > From Images’.
Please note: The ‘Upload presentation from Images’ functionality is not, by policy, active for all system users. - Use the ‘Full Screen Image’ template to upload individual images as slides in the Presenter system
Please note: the default size of a PowerPoint presentation when exported is normally 1280 x 720 pixels. You may even find that some older versions only export at 960 x 540 pixels. These resolutions are lower than the standard for Presenter presentations – which by default are 1366 x 768 pixels. This can mean that when you upload PowerPoint slides into Presenter, the quality is not as good as it could be.
If you want to match the slide quality that Presenter can offer – we have created a PPT template that you can use which is set up with the correct settings. When you create PowerPoint slides using this template – and export them as images (as set out above) – your exported image should be the correct size for Presenter – 1366 x 768 pixels.
You can download the template from the documents section of the Presenter CMS. Go to “Documents and choose the category ‘System Documents’ and you will find “PPT template for Presenter (Windows)”.
